About Dr. Louis Bourget

Dr. Louis Bourget is a highly skilled and expert oral and maxillofacial surgeon with close to 30 years of experience seeing patients throughout Canada’s Atlantic provinces. He specializes in a wide array of treatments ranging from dental implants and wisdom teeth extraction to Botox and full facial reconstruction surgeries.

Dr. Bourget holds a PhD, along with two master’s degrees and 2 fellowships. He has studied around the world – including a fellowship in cleft lip and palate reconstruction and facial cosmetic surgery in France and a fellowship in facial cosmetic surgery from North Carolina USA. He studied at McGill University and his advanced maxillofacial training was done at Dalhousie University. Dr. Bourget is a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations, such as the European Craniofacial Society, and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. He believes in always advancing his education and has also completed over 1200 continuing education courses.

Dr. Bourget became a surgeon to help people. It took him many years to gain the credentials that he needed to open his two practices and start serving his community. In his spare time, Dr. Bourget is a humanitarian. Each year, he and his family travel to a part of the world in which his specialty could help people who don’t typically have access to a doctor or a surgeon with his expertise. Through the connections that he has made throughout these trips, and with his ever-growing business, he is able to obtain additional medical supplies to leave with the hospitals that he visits.

Along with his international endeavors, Dr. Bourget also helps local causes as well. He spends some of his free time teaching members of the Canadian Ski Patrol first aid, and volunteers at the prison offering dental services to inmates.

As someone always ready to find a way to improve his practice; Dr. Bourget has been one of the first practices in Canada to introduce a medical scent service dog. This dog was trained to help reduce anxiety in his patients before proceeding to surgery.
